Social mediaReels & TikTok for brands: what actually stops the scroll (and what doesn't)
A brand can post every day and stay invisible. Another posts three videos and hits a million views. The difference is almost never the budget: it's what happens in the first three seconds. On Instagram and TikTok, the viewer doesn't decide to watch your video — in a split second, they decide not to skip it. Here's what actually makes the difference.
1. The hook: win the first second
The opening isn't an intro, it's a test. If the first three seconds don't grab, the rest doesn't exist. A good hook shows tension, a promise or an unexpected image right away — not a logo, not a "hi everyone." The rule is simple: your best shot should be the first one, not the last.
2. Pace, not length
A short video can be boring and a one-minute video can be gripping. What matters is pace: shots that move forward, cuts that land right, zero dead time. Every second must give a reason to stay for the next. An edit that breathes at the right tempo holds far better than a string of pretty shots.
3. Sound does half the work
We think image, but on these platforms sound carries the emotion: a beat that drops on cue, a well-mixed voice, a silence placed at the right moment. A video can double its performance with the right audio treatment alone. Flat sound or generic music, on the other hand, kills even great footage.
4. Vertical format, planned at the shoot
9:16 isn't a last-minute crop. A video truly built for vertical frames faces closer, leaves room for text, fills the whole screen. Shooting in 16:9 then "cropping" is immediately visible — and it costs views.
5. Intent, not just content
Posting for the sake of posting leads nowhere. Every video should have a clear goal: build awareness, spark reaction, drive sales. A consistent editorial line — a tone, a world, a recognizable visual signature — turns scattered views into a real community. That's the difference between "we make videos" and "we're building a brand."
What it looks like in practice
Done right, this work is measurable: several campaigns I've directed passed a million views, up to 4.1M for a single video, and a brand account managed end to end that crossed 100,000 customers. These aren't flukes: it's the same method applied to every post — hook, pace, sound, intent.
How I work
I can produce a single high-impact video, or manage your entire account: editorial line, regular production, editing built for the platform. A cinematic standard serving one goal — making people stop on your brand.
